Information Sessions

All parties to a family law case (applicants and respondents) are required to attend a Mandatory Information Program before they take any other steps in their case. This program will provide you with helpful information that will guide you during this time of change for your family.

You will learn about:

  • The effects of ending a relationship on adults and children
  • The options available for dealing with the legal and emotional issues related to the ending of a relationship
  • Strategies to help you make more informed decisions throughout this process
  • nformation about other resources in your community that can help.

The program is divided into two sessions, which will be delivered back-to-back. The first session will speak to the effects of separation on you. It will also provide you with information on legal issues, options for dispute resolution and going to court.

The second session is dedicated to helping parents with dependent children understand the effects of separation on children, and how to create parenting plans. If you are a parent and you and your partner have issues relating to one or more child, you must attend the second session.
