Family Law Information Centre

Family Law Information Centres, also referred to as “FLICs”, are located in most family courthouses. They offer free information about divorce, separation and related family law issues (child custody, access, support, property division and child protection). Staff can also refer you to other community resources, including non-legal resources and alternatives to litigation like mediation.

FLICs provide services on a first-come, first-served basis, so you may have to wait to speak to a staff member. Each FLIC has a variety of publications available addressing family law issues. You can also get copies of the Ministry’s Guides to court procedures at any FLIC location.

In Niagara there are two FLICs – one at the St. Catharines Court House on the 4th floor and one at the Welland Court House on the 1st floor. An Information & Referral Coordinator and a Family Advice Lawyer (Duty Counsel) are available to assist you during the hours shown below. Court staff can assist with questions and forms during regular court hours.

9:00am-1:00pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
12:30pm-4:30pm on Tuesday

Hours for Welland
1:00pm-4:00pm Monday

Please note Court Buildings are closed on weekends and statutory holidays.
